Gender-Affirming Care Assessments

For certain medical treatments related to gender dysphoria, a medical provider may require a letter of support from a mental health provider before moving forward with surgical (and in some cases, hormonal) care. Our therapists are trained and skilled in assessing people regarding the impact that such services may have on their gender dysphoria symptoms, in addition to the person's ability to manage mental health concerns in light of the major physiological changes they undergo. We adhere to best practices determined by the WPATH Standards of Care-Version 8.

Diagnostic Assessments

A diagnostic assessment can help determine whether a person requires mental health services, or services that aren't specific to mental health but can alleviate symptoms of a mental health disorder (such as substance use treatment, case management, adult rehabilitative mental health services, medical care, psychiatry, etc.)

Psychosexual Assessments &
Sexual Health Assessments

Psychosexual evaluations are completed in order to gain an understanding of a person's sexual functioning, risk for engaging in future sexually abusive behavior, and treatment needs.

Sexual health assessments are similar to psychosexual evaluations, but do not include evaluation of risk to harm others. Instead, they focus on examining the whole person in relation to their development and environmental stressors, which may lead to disruptions in sexual behavior or expressions of sexuality.
